Bis(μ2-2,2′-((2-(hydroxy)propane-1,3-diyl)bis((nitrilo)eth-1-yl-1-ylidene))diphenolato)-dicobalt(III)

A new cobalt(III) complex with a pentadentate Schiff base was synthesized using reaction of 2,2′-{(2-hydroxypropane-1,3-diyl)bis(nitriloeth-1-yl-1-ylidene)}diphenol (H3L) and cobalt(II) acetate in methanolic solution. This synthesis resulted the isolation dinuclear compound [CoIII2L2] (1), which characterized elemental analyses XRF, FTIR, TG/DSC techniques. The molecular structure confirmed single-crystal X-ray diffraction. 1 consists centrosymmetric dimer two crystallographically equivalent ions are bridged by alkoxido oxygen atoms. In addition, each metal center is coordinated bases.
